Helicopter Flight Simpson s Gap - 40 minutes

Your experience begins with a safety briefing before your flight in a classic Bell 47 helicopter. This will take approximately five minutes. After seat belts are fastened and you've been fitted with a headset, we take off from Alice Springs airport flying to Mt Gillen past the spectacular Mt Gillen Bluff and watch as the West MacDonnell Ranges reveal themselves to the west. We continue tracking west turning above Simpson's Gap, a high craggy cleft in the ranges, then head east to the historic Overland Telegraph Station, built in 1872 to link Darwin to Adelaide via the Overland Telegraph Line. With plenty of photo opportunities on the way we then follow the usually dry Todd River bed, with its magnificent white gums, back over Alice Springs to the airport and perhaps catch sight of "The Ghan" as it winds slowly through Heavitree Gap. Your pilot will point out the sights over the intercom on which you can transmit to him and each other. On return to the airport, you will be escorted from the helicopter to our reception lounge for a cold drink, tea or coffee.
