White Water Rafting Gwydir River 2-day - Inverell

The Gwydir River below Copeton dam in northwest New South Wales provides some of the wildest white water rafting available in Australia. Large volumes of water released from the dam for cotton irrigation further west create a stretch of grade 4 and grade 5 white water which will satisfy dedicated thrill seekers and experienced rafters. Upon arrival all participants are introduced to the guides and other river runners. A safety briefing is conducted including water safety raft control and prevailing river conditions and then you are fitted out with the safety gear. Once on the water you will review safety procedures and practice paddling techniques then the excitement begins! We run the river over 2 days from below Copeton Dam to Horse Stealers Creek a river distance of 16km. On Saturday afternoon we will set camp on a clean sandy beach surrounded by dry eucalypt bush a typical Aussie setting. Cook relax and tell pub tales about the days adventure and turn in for a solid night sleep before rafting Sunday away. The river scenery is dominated by imposing granite boulders cliffs and river sculptured pools. The rapids are long and powerful spaced by deep pools and cascading waterfalls. The Gwydir river provides everything from Adrenalin pumping rapids to calm pools where you can swim and enjoy the scenery of this sub-tropical environment. Rafting is subject to changing river conditions and as such we will only run trips when river levels are high enough to guarantee a great experience.
