Sea Kayaking Coastline Tour - Port Phillip Bay

Location:
Mornington - VIC
Your experience begins with a briefing from our qualified guides on how the equipment works, safety instructions and the plan for the day. There is no doubling back on yourself, or paddling against the wind, as the trip is all one direction, starting from the town of Portsea or from Blairgowrie.
Once on the water, you will find that paddling a sea kayak is a fantastic way to see what the bay has to offer and to explore the nooks and crannies along the coastline. The sand is clean and the water is crystal; it s the perfect place to launch a kayak and glide across the translucent blue. As we travel along the coastline, we will stop to look at points of interest and to tell you about the early settlers to Melbourne, where they were quarantined after sailing for months on the open ocean and how they survived the start of the first settlements including some great stories about interaction with the local aboriginal people.
We often come across pods of bottlenose dolphins that live in the bay as well. Kayaking has to be one of the most tranquil forms of transport ever invented, and when dolphins start popping their heads out barely 50 yards from your kayak it really brings it home what a place Australia is.
The trip is around 10kms and lasts as long as it takes the group to paddle that far, normally around 3.5 hours with a break for a latte or fish and chips on the beach in Sorrento or a stop off at a private beach for refreshments.
