Canoeing on the Yarra River is an action packed full day of canoeing on Grade 2 white water. The day starts at Homestead Rd Reserve next to Mt Lofty Sate Park at 9.00am where you will be issued with personal equipment and safety gear. After a safety brief it’s time to hit the river and embark on a 4 hour journey through some of the most scenic sections of the Yarra River. As you paddle towards the first rapid you will receive detailed instruction over the first flat section of river. This prepares you for the rapids that lie ahead. Rapids increase in difficulty as the Yarra meanders through bushland of the Yarra Valley. During the day the possibility of seeing Kangaroo and Koala sightings is high. The rapids culminate in Bob’s Rock - a half metre drop spanning the width of the river. With a wetsuit on its ok to fall out and swim (likely through this rapid). Lunch will be taken in a picnic area just down stream from Bob’s. The trip continues with a few tricky rapids spaced by some beautiful flat paddling along sections with tall treed banks. The take-out point is at Wittons Reserve where Brushy Creek meets the river about 4-5 Kms downstream.
